Authentication

Access to Monotype capabilities requires authorized authentication. Follow the steps below to obtain your credentials and complete authentication.

  1. Retrieve Client Credentials

Before you can authenticate, you need a Client ID and Client Secret. Request these from your Monotype partner contact. Before development begins, confirm:

    1. Platform credentials have been issued

    2. Required permissions are enabled for your intended capabilities

    3. Your platform's callback address is registered (required for user-level access)

  2. Complete Authentication

    Monotype supports two authentication patterns:

    1. Platform-level access - Background operations — inventory sync, usage reporting, tag management

    2. User-level access - Accessing a specific user's Monotype font library and collections

Most integrations use both.
