A message from our CEO.

As this week comes to a close, I wanted to send a quick note to thank you all. This week was an important one for me, and I hope, for Monotype’s employees, partners, and customers as well.
When a company announces new leadership, the focus understandably lies on the future. What will the vision be? Where will the organization go from here? How will it get there?
Throughout my career, when embracing a new role, I’ve had the opportunity to reimagine the future with my colleagues, and of course that’s no different today. Monotype offers rich and exciting potential for such reimagination, building on the unique brand history that has continued to prove relevant decade after decade, through enormous cultural and economic change.
For those in the design and brand community, Monotype is a household name. For everyone else, Monotype has quietly empowered the world to experience brands, to consume media, and to communicate with one another through type and technology for a rather long time.
Good companies tap into the way the world is. Great companies evolve to where the world is going. When I began considering the journey at Monotype, it was quickly apparent that I was engaging with a great company.
Which brings me back to…the future. Where will the organization go from here? What does success mean and how will we achieve it together? And what I assume many will be asking: why are you the right person to help us get there?
Monotype has achieved impressive growth by adapting to new technology, providing tools and expertise for creative teams to build meaningful brands and above all, through the efforts of its talented team. That success is something that the Monotype team should be justifiably proud of, an outcome that was capably guided by my predecessor, Scott Landers, for the past six years and during his overall 13 year tenure. Thank you Scott!
Monotype is ably staffed with the best type professionals in the world and with my background and experience, I can’t necessarily add to that deep typography expertise and talent. That’s what all of you will continue to do. But I can help us make it easier for brand leaders and creative professionals to access and use that type. Accelerating the adoption of our products, innovating and developing relevant technology and embracing a digital-first future are among the initiatives I expect to contribute to and lead with all of your help.
This is my third day as CEO of Monotype, and I know that I do not yet have all of the answers. However, I am energized by the conversations I’ve had so far and the chance to listen and learn from all of you over the months to come. I am equally humbled by the opportunity to work and collaborate with the exceptional talent that is the bedrock of this business, and with our key partners and customers. I look forward to the opportunity to earn your trust and respect. Thank you for welcoming me to the team, and I am confident that the future for this company will be even brighter than its past.
