Monotype Applauds 2026 Type Directors Club Scholarship Awardees

Maya Cisneros and Sanem Sari receive Monotype-sponsored scholarships recognizing emerging talent in typography and design.

WOBURN, Mass., November 5, 2026 — Monotype Imaging Inc., a global leader in type and technology, congratulates the 2026 winners of the Type Directors Club Adé Hogue Scholarship and Beatrice Warde Scholarship.

The Type Directors Club (TDC), the world’s leading typography organization, announced the winners as part of its annual global student scholarship program. The two $5,000 scholarships, sponsored by Monotype, recognize promising student designers and support the next generation of typographic talent. Monotype has supported TDC student scholarships for more than a decade, sponsoring the Adé Hogue and Beatrice Warde scholarships since their inception.

Maya Cisneros, a student at the School of Visual Arts studying typography, branding, and motion, has been awarded the 2026 Adé Hogue Scholarship. The $5,000 scholarship recognizes an outstanding BIPOC student globally in their junior year of college or first year of graduate or postgraduate school who demonstrates exceptional talent and promise in the design or use of letterforms. It commemorates Adé Hogue, the Chicago-based art director, designer, letterer, and avid cyclist.

Sanem Sari, a student at the University of Central Florida studying studio art and graphic design, has been awarded the 2026 Beatrice Warde Scholarship. The $5,000 scholarship recognizes a woman or nonbinary college student globally in their junior year of undergraduate study whose work demonstrates exceptional talent, sophistication, and aptitude for typography, lettering, and/or type design. It is named after Beatrice Warde, the journalist, typographic scholar, and communicator who was the TDC’s first female member.

The two awards are part of TDC’s 2026 global student scholarship program, which awarded a total of $17,000 to 11 students worldwide. In addition to the financial awards, each scholarship winner receives a one-year TDC student membership, a copy of the TDC annual The World’s Best Typography®, and complimentary admission to all TDC events.
